Speak Up and Speak Out

Silence leads to subservience

 “The King of America … reigns above.” (Thomas Paine, Common Sense) God established America and has called us and our nation to be a city upon the hill and to be an example of righteousness, liberty, freedom, and salvation to the world. As Thomas Paine also wrote, “The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind.” (Thomas Paine, Common Sense) Or as Ralph Waldo Emerson expressed it, “Our whole history appears like a last effort of the Divine Providence in behalf of the human race.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Civilization)

This assertion does not imply or mean that American citizens are superior to anyone else. But what it does mean is that we as citizens of this divinely appointed nation are under obligation to fulfill God's purposes. We will be protected and upheld if we proclaim his will and do his will. It is my belief that Jesus Christ is the God of this land and for our own well-being and protection and prosperity we must worship and follow him.

It was God who endowed us with unalienable rights and inspired the writing of the Declaration of Independence. It was God who inspired the Revolutionary War and provided ultimate victory. It was God who inspired imperfect but well-intentioned men to write the Constitution of the United States. And it was God who established this constitutional and representative Republic in protection of freedom and liberty and to be a light to the world.                              

Thus it is the duty of all of us, especially those who are Christian and believe in God, to speak up and by our actions defend and uphold and maintain the Constitution, our Republic, American principles, truth, and virtue. We are called to be bold and to express the principles of the gospel, freedom, and defend what is right.

We are told by Leftist politicians and woke elitists that we can believe and live our religion but it must be in a limited way and out of the general body politic. Far too many of us have yielded to these totalitarian and evil forces and have become timid and silent. Our acquiescence has allowed immorality and evil to abound. Traditional values, morality, virtue, civility, the family, reality, truth, our children and their innocence, the unborn, and our basic unalienable rights given to us of God are all under assault because of our cowardice and reticence.

Enough is enough. At the core of Americanism is religious freedom and expression. America was founded upon the right of free exercise of religion in our homes, our churches, and in society and the public square. In 1830 Alexis de Tocqueville wrote of America in his book Democracy in America, “There is no country in the world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America.”

We have allowed anti-God and anti-religion forces to be our masters. But it is time to regain our heritage and courage and speak up and be active and aggressive. We can do this civilly, kindly, and with persuasion, but we must not be silent and passive. We must open our mouths and be heard in word and in deed and with our votes.

Our future will be subservience if we fail to act now. As Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” (Benjamin Franklin, Letter to Messrs, the Abbes Chalut, and Arnaud, April 17, 1787) God will protect our nation from the evils of totalitarianism and authoritarianism if we defend Him and His principles. But even more ominous, if we fail to uphold God’s values and defend divinely inspired American principles, then the judgments as outlined in the scriptures will be our ultimate fate.
